My longest and most personal obsession of all time has definitely been Johnny Depp, American actor, musician, director, and genius. I have almost all his movies, excluding maybe two or three, and I've spent TONS~~ of money on him Laughing I proudly flaunt that I've watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean in theaters 18 times big grin

Anyway, although the Japanese entertainment world has DEVOURED me lately, and I know that it must be the same for the rest of you aswell, are there any American actors, singers, musicians, directors, etc that interest you aswell?

Sometimes cuz i'm only busy with J-pop and such.. I walk behind with the newest American stuff x'D

But for example.. I like to listen to Ne-Yo, Mario, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado in r&b kinda music.. and more.

I also love to listen to; Simple Plan, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Mika, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 30 Seconds to Mars, sometimes Greenday and more.

It's mostly various.. but to ^those bands/singers I usually listen to.

Rock, R&B and Punk and well various ^^

I also like Johnny Depp.. and Eddie Murphy omg.. he's so funny Laughing

Mm, I love R&B and HIP HOP! Musiq Soulchild, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Ne-yo, and friends ftw!

Oh, and I really admire Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy. You may think that's random, but he's performed covers of So Sick from Ne-Yo and Beat It from Michael Jackson...seriously, he's amazing too! SO IS THE BAND~

And I have a thing for Shia LaBeouf...lol. He's awesome in my book.

OOOOHH!! Let's see in music, I love Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Aly & A.J., umm Maroon 5, and Hellogoodbye.

Lol, it's sad that I just ran blank on my fave actors/actresses. Lol! Johnny Depp is cool, but he creeped me out in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory....

Oh dear! Eh? I've been so focused on Japanese stuff that I hardly know who's who in America & even in my own country the Philippines. I know, shame on me. But I just can't really seem to sit & watch/listen to any American or Filipino shows/movies/music anymore. I feel like I'm gonna have a fever if I don't watch or listen to anything Japanese (mainly ARASHI)whistle The only American shows I'm interested in are Bizzare Foods, Mythbusters, & Ghost Hunters other than those I just watch J-Doramas & shows.

I totally know what you mean~ After secluding myself in my room all summer watching and listening and speaking Japanese, when I went out and watched "Bourne Ultimatum" which was actually really good, I was so uncomfortable and taken back when I started to hear all the english and perfectly american accents Laughing I'm so behind with American movies and music, demo, I do keep up with my favorite tv shows, like House M.D!! Which started this week, and Scrubs which will be starting in October.

Speaking of House and Scrubs, I guess I love the actors in those shows alot. I really love Hugh Laurie and his perfect American accent AND his british accent Wohoo! He's an amazing actor that makes the show really interesting. From Scrubs, I think the whole cast is great, especially John C. McGinley my fave~, and then Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, and Judy Reyes, and so on and so on~

If you guys can, you should definitly tune in to watch both the shows. Although this will be Scrubs' last season ~sigh~

Some of the best freaking shows on this planet!! Dirty Jobs is really good too!! Well, I won't watch Ghost Hunters because I get scared really easily. I still watch the Disney Channel so I love the Suite Life and Hannah Montana. smile Balls of Fury was the last movie I saw in theaters and it was really funny!!

OOh! I forgot!! I really love Samuel L. Jackson too!! He was great as Mace Windu in Star Wars!

hmm, the only American entertainers i really pay attention to are Justin Timberlake and Ciara. And that's just cos i'm a sucker for a good dancer :p
Is it terrible if i admit to having a soft spot for the PussyCat Dolls though? XD idk, people tend to look at me funny when i say that.

is it just me, though, or does it seem like discovery is on endless Dirty Jobs rewind? everytime i check to see what's on, it's always DJ, no matter what time or day it is...? although i am a sucker for their nerdy nature and science stuff. big grin

as for musicians though, the only one i really listen to Maroon5, since they are so AWESOME!!! and adam levine isn't bad-looking either big grin i know, typical fangirl. but what i really like about them is that their music sounds different from all the others. lately there just seems to be so many bands who sing the same crap over and over (which is the reason why i got into jpop in the first place)

and also, i agree with the one about SCRUBS and JOHNNY DEPP (although im not quite as devoted as jenshinnn =] )

Oh, I love Johnny Depp too. And Tim Burton! And everything they do together! Can't wait for Sweeney Todd!

I was going to list some music I like, but then I realized everything I was thinking of was from Scotland or New Zealand or Canada or England and not actually the US. Hmm, let's see. I like Tori Amos a lot! I'm sure I listen to tons of American music (I listen to tons of all kinds of music), but most of my favorites seem to be from elsewhere.

And I don't watch a lot of American TV. I like Scrubs and House and Lost, but I'm way behind on actually watching any of them. I keep up with How I Met Your Mother because I adore Neil Patrick Harris. And I watch Ugly Betty. And I adored Arrested Development beyond all reason and am still sad it's gone.

I also really love Drew Carey, Ryan Styles, Wayne Brady, and Colin Mockery(never can remember how to spell that). They did an improv show called "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" If you're ever looking for a laugh, that show will do it!

^ I've seen that here! It's on really late at night, but it's funny. They're all really good at improv. Haven't seen it in a while, not that I've been watching though ^^;

Hmmm, I spend a lot of time watching stuff on my laptop so I'm completely behind with American and Australian entertainment.
I rarely watch TV these days and when I do, I usually watch news/social commentary/current affairs programs on the government channels since commercial TV is full of brainless sensationalism packaged as "news" and the only place I can see something substantial is on government channels (haha, can anyone tell I'm a bit disillusioned?)

That being said, I love stuff like Scrubs and House, but I download them if I want to watch since we're way behind and the stupid channels keep changing their time slot. I also like "The Office" which is great car crash TV XD
As for Aussie stuff, I love "Thank God You're Here" which is a comedy improv. show. I think some American channel recently bought the rights to it, so you may have heard of it. It's a great show that really depends on the calibre of the stage comedians as well as the guest comedians.
And "The Chaser's War on Everything" coz it's great Aussie humour taking the mickey out of politicians, multinational corporate bodies, politicians (yea, twice XD) and, sorry 'bout this guys, Americans.

Thi and TinkChick, I agree!
I LOVE THAT SHOW! It was actually just playing and I love how they just make fun of each other. The one where Richard Simmons was a guest had me in tears XDD

The latest American Entertainment obsession, a sit down show for my siblings and I, is Heroes. SO. GOOD. a;sdlkgjdfg <3333333333

And Scrubs.. pure comedy gold. XD

I can't keep up with them on normal TV - I leech. XD
Except Heroes, and that's only cause it's showing the second season now.

OH AND CARTOONS!
Family Guy and Futurama = crack.

And latest obsession, like Sunako-san~ is Ghost Hunters.
I'm.. a chicken so when I must watch it with my brother and sister XD then we all end up scared and it's even more embarassing
