hi all.

oh i was able to go to the nov15th nite of AAA2008. i had a wonderful time meeting with fans. i nearly ran out of mandarin. i happen to get a rmb680 ticket in HK while i was there in HK for business.

i was very happy a lot of people from all around asia made efforts to go to the con. shanghai grand stage was full of arashi love for two nites, not bad for firsttime concert! no sleepy audience, everybody was hyper active.

for my con report visit lakemeader01.livejournal.com i may have mistaken some things as i am not 100% accurate coz the stage interpreter did not interpret a lot of things... but i hope everyone understands i try my best.

i am forever so thankful i still could carry a conversation hahaha.

sorry i am very poor with pinyin and cannot type it, as i never studied it because the pinyin has not existed when i was studying mandarin in school.

Hey nice to meet everyone here! I was born in Hong Kong but grew up/am currently living in Canada. I can read and type chinese but its much faster for me to use english. Anyway a friend and I both travelled to Japan and HK this summer and we discovered Arashi so we went crazy looking for CDs and DVDs in Mong Kok.

Just a question: do you guys actually understand japanese or do you rely on watching and reading translations in english or chinese?

Japan -> HK trips are the best! (I just got back from one myself)
Japan for eating and playing and sightseeing, then to Hong Kong for (eating and) cheap shopping.

Although, I think Arashi CDs are cheaper in Japan than Hong Kong, or at least the Japanese imports in HK are not much cheaper. Also with the Taiwan CDs, I got really confused because I suddenly couldn't read the song titles since I'm so used to reading them in Japanese!

I bought one DVD in Japan, and thought I'd get some in HK maybe, but they're all region 3!!! Boo. I saw the Hana Yori Dango Returns Extras disc and REALLY wanted it.

I have studied Japanese, but my level of understanding is not high enough to cope with their informal conversational style, so I always get English translations. If I really can't wait for something to be subbed, then I watch the raws and mostly try to listen to what they're saying in Japanese. Sometimes I pause and try to read the onscreen Japanese and kanji.

Haha I try to read the kanji too but since I don't understand japanese, it really doesn't help much. I didn't check the prices of the CDs and DVDs in Japan but the imports into HK were like twice the price of the Taiwanese or HK versions! And yeah I have to do a double-take when I read the chinese titles too because it looks so different than in Japanese. I also think that chinese translations of japanese names or titles are so weird!

@ Sugarangel - Nice to meet you!! Hope you can enjoy here ^^

@ zer0rei - Glad to hear that you have a nice trip in HongKong smile
Right!! The exchange rate of Japanese yen are rather high and I always get my Arashi stuff such as concert DVD for Taiwan/HK versions only...

Thanks mclam01!

I'm envious of those who actually live in Asia and can get DVDs and CDs for relatively cheap. Its so expensive here in Canada!
