Arashi, golden time mcs! TBS Thursday 10PM changed to a variety program

TBS announced that starting April, the Thursday 10PM to 11PM hour slot will be changed from a drama to a variety program in which the popular group Arashi will be the mc.

With April's new program changes, TBS's drama slot of Thursday 10PM will be renewed to a variety program slot.

　Thursdays from 10PM had been a primetime slot for dramas, but they announced that they will be making changes. With their target as teens to people in their twenties, they will start a variety program with Arashi as the mc.

Currently on Thursdays at 10PM, Nihon TV has "Downtown DX" and TV Asahi has "Houdou Station" which has been receiving good ratings. TBS will join this slot with an educational variety. The Arashi members will learn along with the younger generations by picking up keywords from politics and the economy, as well as explaining the mechanisms of things around us.

This will be Arashi's first primetime mc in their 9th year. Recently, the members are working in all different fields, with the leader Ohno Satoshi (27) announcing the opening of his exhibition from the 21st, Ninomiya Kazunari (24) appearing in the Hollywood film "Letters from Iwo Jima" and Sakurai Sho (26) appearing as a newscaster in Nihon TV's "NEWS ZERO." They are "ready to go and excited to create a new program that has never been aired before."

Groups from Johnny's such as TOKIO's "Gachinko!" (from Heisei 11-15) and V6's "Gakkou e Ikou! MAX" (Heisei 17 - present) are also variety programs on TBS which has made them very popular. Arashi aims to step-up in this new variety program.

This new variety program with Arashi only has 2 months until the first episode, but the title is still undetermined. The producer Hirata Saori says "The members who are popular in various genres will be appearing together in this program, so we would like to think out of the box and make it a wonderful program."

guess the rumours were partially true after all ^^

i think Arashi is the only group in the younger batch that can be taken seriously enough to do something like this. can't really see any of the younger JE groups talking about politics and economics ^^; it's Sho 's influence as a news caster =P

i wonder if the show is 1 hour or is it only half an hour like the rest of their variety shows?

Sounds it's a quite serious programs and they never been MC before (only Sho as a MC in News Zero)..so..full of my expectation to this new programs..can't wait to see smile

when I found out that the boys will be getting a prime time slot for the first time. Things are really looking up for our Stormy 5 this year. I'm so proud of them. clapping

I'm so happy that they are going to be in prime time! Way to go boys! 2008 is looking to be a great year already. I love their variety shows, because all 5 of them get to be together and do baka things.

But I hope they can turn it to something fun, I mean, they're Arashi. They can do anything.
