You've heard of Lonely Planet series and now let's start a Johnny's Planet series! Ha...ha....ha... Since we have international members here, aside from online stores, where do you buy your Johnny's related stuff like CDs, DVDs, drama boxsets, magazines, posters, merchandise etc.? Post here and I'll update the list. I'm sure this would be of help to locals and travellers a like! Ha...ha...ha... Please contribute everyone!
I'll start with what I know, so some countries might be missing. It doesn't mean I forget that country at all, will update when I have more info and more time. ^^;; Mods are welcomed to help with editing the list.
The list will be divided into continents and then countries in alphabetical order. Oh, if a particular country is divided by states or counties or provinces or islands or whatever else you guys describe them, please write them down as well. Directions, website address and other details of the stores that you know would be very much welcomed. If the list gets really big, we can always make it into separate threads for that particular country/continent.
Cheers! ^^V
[Oh, by the way, this list will be cross-posted. Sharing info is good ne. Spread the love everyone!]

+ Various drama boxsets, movies and CDs can be found in most audio and video stores around the country. CDs are a bit difficult to find, but drama boxsets with Mandarin and/or Malay and sometimes English subtitles are quite common - although they might not be up to date with the latest releases, but they usually get there eventually. Sometimes you can request in the stores and they'll try to find it for you if you just ask them to.
So just pop in to the video shops and browse around. The only thing being, they usually put the Japanese and Korean and Chinese stuff under the Chinese category. Not sure if they're better now, but yeah. ^^;; I can't remember the names of the shops specifically, so will return to this next time. [~jihunny79]
CAMBODIA
INDONESIA
Kinokuniya at Jakarta :
- Plaza Senayan (SOGO 5th floor)
- Plaza Indonesia
- Mal Pondok Indah II (SOGO bottom floor)
WOMS at
- Mega Mal Pluit
- Taman Anggrek Mal
- Citra Land Mal<sell japanese doramas
selling some CD, they dont put a lot of stock,so who's faster he'll get it
LAOS
MALAYSIA West Malaysia (the one between Singapore and Thailand)
+ For dramas though you can get them at S&M, Kotaraya. And I think they have a lot of J-pop stuff there but I haven't looked around much to be sure. [~mmyy]
-- How to get to S&M:
by Star LRT
take the star line and stop at plaza rakyat station
Walk out, you'll see kota raya and take the overhead pedestrian bridge to cross the road
S&M is right next to kotaraya & Go downstairs to drama stores
by PUTRA LRT
take the putra line and stop at pasar seni station
walk until u see the pedestiran bridge... then do the same
by metrobus
i dunno, u just check which bus that goes to kotaraya
pretty much every single metrobus will stop in front of kotaraya
just ask the bus driver
Kota raya is very accessible through public transport, dun try attemtping to drive there if u dunno the way... it's hell!!! The traffic there is crazy!!!
And yeah, the place is pretty dangerous but act like you know everything, and no one will disturb u... i've been walking there since i was 16 so it's cool...
oh yeah, bring money!!! u're bound to spend tonnes of money there if u r a dramaholic! [~masanino]
+ You can also try Music Valley or any kind of anime/chinese typo VCD store around, you really never know... old mags can be found in MPH & Pudu Plaza... sometimes come with free uchiwas & letter pads! ^^ [~masanino]
East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) Miri, Sarawak
+ Found a couple of shops in Miri, Sarawak selling drama boxsets, movies and old CDs and DVDs of Johnny's. Some bookstores also sell Chinese magazines featuring the Johnny's boys - I think some even have Chinese-version of Japanese titles. Again, one has to have keen eyes to spot them. ^^;; [~jihunny79]
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
+ In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, there's only one shop called Poly Music Store in Wisma Merdeka that sells Johnny's earlier artists like Kinki Kids and V6...they only sell one album of Arashi, No.1 Ichigou... but I also saw Hana Yori Dango boxset here... [~sweetdude]
MYANMAR
PHILIPPINES
+ Maybe you can try the shop at Ongpin its called Mei-Ah vcd / dvd shop..
im not sure though if it has jyannis stuffs available, but i was able to buy a japanese drama there.. ^o^ [~kwaching]
SINGAPORE
+ Kinokuniya bookstores in Takashimaya (Ngee Ann City) and Parco Bugis Junction. Taka's Kino is a lot bigger and has a wider variety of magazines.
The Heeren Annex may have Jpop posters, mugs, keychains, T-shirts, etc. too, as I just found out from Eri! A store called 'Mise Exclusive', fifth floor, next to the escalator. I'm not sure if it's still there, though, will check it out whenever I can.
HMV outlets sell Japanese music, and LaserFlair (Bedok Central) sells concert DVDs of KinKi Kids, V6, etc. [~gemtsoi]
+ You can try House of Stars or Fans Hub Yah but also there also very very limited, cos they mostly sell tw artistes' stuff. Yah but can go and take a look maybe if you request something they might be able to get it for you. Btw it's at Orchard. One of Far East Plaza, the other at Lucky Plaza (cant rmb which, got mixed up). [~1noni]
+ Mise for photos. HMV/Sembawang for CDs. Kinokuniya for mags. [~Jessicasoon]
+ [About Mise...]
-- And since Singapore doesn't seem to have any other outlets !! (Mise actually charges double for the stuff. >_< and posters thrice the price I think.) [~shiroi-chan]
-- Nope, Mise didn't close down (at Heeren), it moved to Cineleisure, which is opposite Heeren, and it just reopened. [~sky]
-- It's on the 9th floor, you gotta take the lift. If you see a Gamer's Paradise, it's there. Oh God. I got so lost (and its cine -_-|| !) [~FunkadelicsInc]
+ There's this shop called Visma located at Outram Park. They sell lots of CDs and you can get Japanese Jpop CDs pretty fast, but they don't always bring in the Japanese Version though. Especially limited ones. It's a few dollars cheaper than HMV. Sometimes more than 10 dollars cheaper for imported albums. And the uncles there are friendly.
[It's] the one at Pearls Centre. =) Next to Giordano.
And yup, it's super duper squeezy in there. So its best to just approach the uncle straight and ask for the CD. You can call before hand to avoid a wasted trip. Their number is 6224 9592.
I'm not advertising for them. lolx. Just really thought its a place we can save loads of okane. I got my H album there for $36 (imported).. I think HMV is selling at $57 or $47 or sth? lolx. Just too bad that they dont always bring in the limited ones. I got the Anniversary limited edition there last year. And the News Touch limited. Worth a visit![~momo]
+ I think music junction... the one at Woodlands.. Actually quite likes KinKi Kids.. They do import the japanese ed of their albums surprisingly, and sell them 30plus dollars cheaper than HMV I think..
I saw the limited ver of G album and normal ver of H album there before.. [~yue_tsuki]
+ Comics Connection at Plaza Singapura has posters of Kat-tun going at $3 per piece and poker cards of Kat-tun and other jpop stuff going at $10. The wallet cards of many jpop stars are going at $0.80. Quite a steal if you ask me!! [~icyblue_flame]
THAILAND
+ Ishimaru Siam square, Bangkok. Mainly JE and Korean stuffs and CDs. (Also old Japanese stuffs) You can order the owner for what you want to have..but the price is quite high.
VIETNAM
--CHINA and the FAR EAST--
CHINA (Mainland)
HONG KONG
+ Sino Plaza is on a very busy, very crowded street in Mong Kok. It's not very far from Mong Kok station, so just hop on the green or red MTR line and get off there.
(Kwun Tong Line or Tsuen Wan Line)
"MTR or "Mass Transit Railway".
Mong Kok (旺角) is an MTR station located in the central area of Mong Kok, Kowloon. It is between Prince Edward and Yau Ma Tei stations on the Tsuen Wan Line and Kwun Tong Line. The initial English name for the station was Argyle, after nearby Argyle Street."
Once you are at Mong Kok Station, hop in a taxi (I think the local green taxis are cheaper than the red ones) and ask to go to:
"Sino Plaza (信和商場) ? In this plaza, there are many products for Anime - Videos, CDs, DVDs, and comics. Besides that, there are shops selling pop CDs. They carry many music albums by Hong Kong, Japanese, and western pop artists."
The entrance is hidden between lots of electronic shops, Jewellery stores and restaurants. I remember there was a Japanese restaurant near it that I went to~ There is an escalator down to a basement full of shops, including an idol one where you can get official Johnny's photos and concert goods. You can also buy VCDs of many of the Johnny's programs like Shounen Club, the Ya ya yah show and Domoto Kyoudai etc.
It's kind of difficult to find but it's really good if you do find it ^^
Hope this is of some use to some people! [~rice_desu]
TAIWAN
+ I encountered a Shop in Taipei. In the Xi Men district, at Xi Men Ding (pretty much a young people place, and the older people come back cus they went there when they were younger).
In my opinion the best place for johnny mag. or japanese bookstore is in Xi Men Ding.
The subway (MTR) stop for there is Xi Men. besides the 95 music store they have (which has official johnny goods) there's a Japanese Bookstore in Xi Men Ding too. the store is all Japanese Magazines, literally. sadly they don't sell the Taiwan ver. of Wink Up anymore (they stopped printing) but they still have the reg. japanese ver. of Wink up and potato, duet etc..
95 music at Xi Men Ding. There are actually two shops. One is the old one and oen is the new one. The old one is pretty small in therethey sell paparazzi photos of idols and stuff. (*doesn't remember waht else*)
the new one is much bigger. They have like Official Goods-Uchiwas, Posters, other con. goods. Magazines, singles, albums, Concert DVDs (Japan version)
For oversea versions you might want to try a regular music store. They may also have Overseas ver. of Concerts which are way cheaper. It's VCD though, but it looks exactly liek the DVD. [~TK-chan]

Paris
+ I live in Paris so i know all Japanese shops ! and i buy every month mags (potato, duet, WU...) in a bookshop.
The best is Junkudo (it's the same bookshop than the BIG Junkudo in Ikebukuro) but this one is obviously little. So this is the adress:
Junkudo
18 rue des Pyramides (Pyramides Street)
75001 Paris
France
Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum!
In Paris, you take the subway no.7 and go to Pyramide Station and the take 'Rue des Piramides' Exit.
When you are outside, turn right and go immediatly in the street on the left, it's Pyramides Street and go straight for 10 secondes and you will be in front of Junkudo.
There is an other shop with CDs. The adress is :
Book-Off Opera
29 rue Saint-Augustin
75002 PARIS
You can go after Junku, it's not far.
Go near the subway, cross away and turn left at Opera Avenue, take at right Gaillon Street and turn at right again Saint Augustin Street, go straight and you arrive at Book Off, there is a pannel with the kanji '本' [~Miyu]
-- About Junkudo:
Yes, I've been there and it was easy to find. It spanned a basement and a ground floor and filled with Japanese manga, novels, magazines and other reading materials. Such a nice place and the staff are friendly. You can get by with money and merci. Ha...ha...ha... The staff speaks Japanese and French. [~jihunny79]

+ JP-Books in Mitsukoshi Department Store
Just found this shop at Picadilly Circus at the same block as the sports shop Lillywhites and just before Deep Pan Pizza. It's just a few minutes walk from the Picadilly Circus tube station. The JP-Books is a bookstore in the basement of the Mitsukoshi Department Store. It sells Japanese magazines and books and even some CDs and mangas. I saw some JE artists' CDs over there and bought Potato and Wink Up magazines (each costs 7.50 pounds). Lots of idol magazines and other lifestyle magazines available there, so I might go back there again to buy some more like An An and Duet. Man, the magazines are so glossy! Love the pics~~~

+CD Dog is the BEST for japanese music. It's slightly cheaper than buying in Broadcast and it has more variety. I got my V6's Very Best II there just recently... they'll pretty much have any new single or album there. And also, if you're a Chinese music fan... CD Dog also has a lot of old (sometimes used) CDs that you'll never think you'd find.

Hah! They have one here too! Though not as big as the one in San Francisco, the San Jose Kinokuniya also holds a good variety of Johnny's items. [~Eri]
Hawaii
+ To my knowledge, I don't know of any stores that sell JE items. All I know is that Hakubundo has the magazines and sometimes Shirokiya has the Potato magazine. but they're expensive because of shipping and all.
Shirokiya is in Ala Moana on Macy's side of the mall and here's the address for Hakubundo:

No one from Aibakaland contributed anything yet, so no mention of this forum in the special thanks (just in case anyone asks. Don't worry, it can be edited later on).
Europe seems lonely, and no entries at all for Indonesia and Thailand?
... I guess people here shop online all the time? ^^;; Anyway...
Found a Japanese bookstore in London only today! >spasm< Why oh why?! And Arashi happened to be on the covers of most August idol magazines. Can't decided whether it's a blessing or a curse! ^^;;

uh, there are no Arashi CDs out here in almost all Philippine music stores, but i think there's one in Greenhills (i'm not sure where, because my brother was the one who told me this, but Greenhills is a pretty small place so you could actually explore it in a short while ) that sells JPop, JRock and Jdorama CDs. sadly, all Filipino fans in the Philippines could do now is DL Arashi stuff until the music stores realize that there's some extremely COOL Japanese band called Arashi
oh, to add: no original Arashi CDs in Ongpin...all are pirated, so better not buy there

Hellooo! ^^ I can contribute something to NY,USA.
These stores are located in Manhattan! I'm not TOO keen on how to get there :X but I can elaborate as much as I can, and I'll edit this post when I get more information~
I know of three Japanese book stores in Manhattan that sells magazines, CDs, etc.. I don't think they exactly have Johnny's concert pics and stuff, but have a lot of magazines like Popolo, Myojo, Potato, Duet, etc
Kinokuniya - 10 West 49th street between 5th and 6th Ave.
You can use this

to help you get directions. (ALOT of Idol mags.. <3 and Jrock mags, CDs, DVDs, etc)
Book Off - 14 E 41st btwn Madison & 5th, 212-685-1410 (second hand bookstore & HUGE collection of reasonably priced cds [mostly], but barely.. if any, Myojos, Potato.. Idol mags and the like..)

More specifically for the non-pirated stuff... check these 2 stores called Broadcast and CD Dog (New & Used CDs). Broadcast SOMETIMES have a few idol jap magazines floating around. I once bought a Wink Up there... but it's very rare that you might catch them on the racks. They also sell japanese music. Arashi's Aozora Pedal & Arashic I just recent saw on the racks (there was also Kat-Tun's album & TxT's newest single).. and a lot of w-inds stuff. CD Dog is the BEST for japanese music. You can also check out Music Headquarters... it's not as good, but there's a lot of old SMAP singles & albums there. And recently, there's also a clearance sale there... I think they'll be closing up soon.
BTW... any Broadcast store is good for japanese stuff. Different stores tend to have different "older" albums/singles.
