I Survived A Japanese Game Show

There is a show on ABC called I Survived A Japanese Game Show and I wanted to know what people think about it.

For me it's pretty funny and an awesome way to see anything Japanese other than my laptop. As usual there are many culture shocks for people, but it's funny cause I kinda know about them already and think it's obvious. I know I don't know enough Japanese, but I think they didn't sub the Japanese 100% so I feel special knowing that.

Oh and when they did the overviews of the city, each time I said "Man, my Arashi is down there somewhere, I wonder where" Cause it's in Tokyo.

this piqued my interest too (well, anything japanice) but I haven't seen an episode yet.

OOHHH Crap!!! I completely forgot this came on! I wanted to see it!!

Anybody know what time it comes on in the eastern time zone??

It comes on at 9. I think it is always supposed to be after Wipeout for the summer. You can watch on the internet through ABC. I just rewatched it a while ago.

They said something about Toho studios. Isn't that the one that produces Naruto or something. Also on their website are a few things about HYD Final. I would be cool if they showed the same places as the HYD crew. I keep wanting to make connections, being fangirlish like. It's funny how they may not even be related one bit, and yet I'm too hopeful.

Aaaww!! I forgot that it aired this week. ~sigh~

I really wanted to watch this from the moment I saw previews of this show. And since Japanese game shows are down right hilariously baka, I wanted to watch this. I need to look at their website to watch this since I didn't get a chance to watch it when it first aired.

I watched it a couple days ago~ I found it quite amusing how the Japanese game host was making fun of the competitors! XDD;
The winning team was so lucky that they got to go in the helicopter and see tokyo!! *____*

i love this tv show..
but it sorta made fun of japanese people (and i am one btw)
like all these crazy people were in the audience.. and people we are NOT like that smile

I just watched for the first time and I did not really like it. I thought it was just American people going on a Japanese game show for fun, not an elimination competition. Way to much stupid drama between the contestants for my liking.

On a side note, I would love to see Arashi try the human crane on VS Arashi! That would be hilarious. Best not to put Sho up on the crane though. He might get very mad. wink

I just heard of it and watched it for the first time today. I'm not sure how I felt about it? On one hand, Japanese game shows are amusing. On the other hand, American elimination competitions are not to my taste. Might watch it again if just to better figure out what my opinion is.

Anyone watch Unbeatable Banzuke on G4 (in the US)? The G4 host for that show (Kei Kato?) is the same guy as the host of the game show on I Survived A Japanese Gameshow, right? His name is different, but it's the same dude, right? I'm not totally crazy?

I've seen Unbeatable Banzuke a few times but I'm not sure if that's the host. I don't think it is ... ah I could be wrong though!

I'm still pretty iffy about this show. I wish it was more game show stuff and less drama. So far ... it's definitely not what I expected. But seriously though, I thought this show was going to be about americans trying to get through a crazy japanese game show ... not mostly about drama and punishments/rewards for losing/winning. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it gets any better.

I completely agree! I finally got to see it and was totally disappointed. They took what could have been something histerical and entertaining and made it into stupid reality TV.(Which I can't stand!!)

MxC will always be my favorite Japanese game show on american television.
I love the crazy things they dub into that show...
