I love this movie!
But it was so sad and I cried at the end...
I hated the part when they all suicided. Why did they do it? They could have survived...
When I watched the movie the first time, it was so stressing. Whenever I thought Saigo was going to die I started screaming, 'Ah! No! Run Nino!' I was so happy he survived all the way through the movie
Nino's acting was great! He played the part very well
I'm not into war movies or anything, so if Nino wasn't in it, I probably wouldn't have watched it...

well, yeah...thats true, but in japan there was this big thing w/ "honor"...goes wayyyyy back to ancient japanese history...mostly popular w/ samurai culture... they saw it as a more honorable death to willingly give their lives than to have it taken by the hands of the enemy, and surrender was a BIG BIG no...remember when nino tried to tell the jerky officer that the general said to retreat but then the officer told him to shut up and that "escape was the coward's way out"? ...but as nino's character pointed out, how is that helping to win the battle if everyone dies before really trying to fight? i wonder what would have happened if they really had tried to fight til the end rather than killing themselves

nino's acting is sugoi! ^_^ I really like his movie... It really makes me think about the wars that happened before.. The story was good also.. sugoi Nino! sugoi Clint Eastwood!
I watched the film and quite like it.
I like Ninoīs role a lot that he didnīt agree with commiting suiside. Well, this is an intersting film and itīs worth watching.
Nino did a great job in this film ,but I like Ken Watanabeīs action the most. People seem to pay attention for Nino more than for Ken (or itīs just me keeping reading comments about Nino).
I watched this movie a couple nights ago and I thought it was amazing. I never cry for movies (though I do for books and mangas all the time), but I was holding back tears for almost 2/3 of the movie. Nino's acting was brilliant, in my opinion; he had this innocent sort of look that really didn't fit with the whole war scene, so my heart went out to him immediately. I definitely wouldn't have been able to watch Letters if it wasn't for Nino, though. Way too graphic, way too horrifying.

Nino really proved how much of a good actor he is with this film.
My favorite scene is right after when Nino's character was recruited, specifically when he was talking to his wife's belly, assuring the two of them that he will come back. The way he comforted his wife...my heart melted right on the spot.
I borrowed the dvd from a friend and watched it, and, I think it's a really sad movie. But I liked it, Nino's such a good actor and his role was sort of cute.
Now, I bought the dvd myself, but in french -.-° I couldn't find the german version Dx, but I haven't watched it a second time yet .___. when I see the dvd standing there, I think "no too sad, I don't want to cry tonight". But the movie is really good <3
Great! There's a thread for this! I just watched the movie a few days ago and it was good! For some reason, I felt at some point Nino would die since everyone else was dying, I was somewhat nervous most of the time lol. I really did NOT like the suicide parts. (Had to turn my head away and I really hated the sound!) But overall, Nino's a really great actor and I'm happy that he has the role of a main character and stays alive!
