The movie had its world premier last night!
Translated by me directly from the site:
"Letters from Iwo Jima" world premier was held in Nippon Budoukan on November 15th. Watanabe, Kazunari Ninomiya, Tsuyoshi Ihara, and Ryo Kase were all in attendance, along with Clint Eastwood, and Robert Lorenz (Producer), who traveled to Japan for the premier. Iris Yamashita (screen play) was also in attendance.
Watanabe, who leads the cast as Lieutenant General Kuribayashi spoke regarding the film on stage: "Clint drew out the history that the Japanese people had tried to forget. Today, let's experience the suffering of Iwo Jima, the sorrow, along with the little pleasure together." He greeted the hall warmly.
Kazunari Ninomiya "What does this work have? Definitely consider it and think about what it means. But, one thing is understood, and this movie talks about the truth. This truth needed 61 years to be told, and those 61 years allowed us to be able to think abou the dark truth and understand it for what it was. The way this movie depicts the truth will touch you, experience it, the thoughts and feelings born from this movie will be the proof." spoke about the film.
Tsuyoshi Ihara continued: "This movie shows why men fight. It was a big challenge for an American staff and Japanese cast to take on together." He spoke regarding the filming challenges.
Ryo Kase "The short time I resided in America, and returning to Japan afterwards, I still remember the friends I made. Please view both Iwo Jima works to be able to honestly understand the battle. This is the response I wish to hear." commented.
Director Clint Eastwood spoke at the end. "Working with the Japanese cast was really a wonderful experience in my long career. The wife and mother's desire from any country to see their husbands come home from the battle field is the same. I want to dedicate this movie to the younge people who went to this war and were not able to return." The hall was filled with warm applause at the end.

Also, Sho was the only member to attend the premier, which could have to do with the filming for HYD2 and Ohno's butai. But I'm not sure why Aiba wouldn't have gone. It appears that Sho went to interview Nino for News Zero.

Nino, you did a good job in giving such a amazing speech!
I read a article from a newspaper here too. It seems like the movie sell great for the 1st day. And it's quite highly recommend by people who had watched it.
Hopefully the newspaper article will aid singapore's fan to be able to watch the movie here, as well as in asia soon!!

Ehhh...I wanna see it so badly! ...they should play it in America. That'd make me (and a bunch of other fans) really happy. They showed the American version, but not the pretty Nino one.
*squees* I'm hoping this is not the limited release, and that the actual full release date has been moved up. I'll do a bit more reasearch on it.
Hontou ni? O.o Not February 9th? Are you positive? =O Omg omg omg pleeease be right because if not this is a horrible joke and I think my heart might explode from it.

Yeah. Actually, many times the DVD in the US is released before the movies are even shown in Australia. Thats how slow it is. but still. the quicker the US release, the quicker the Australian one.

it's so annoying when that happens!
Just checked imdb...the Australian release is 22nd of February 2007 is that the date set for Australia before they changed the US release date? let's hope so because it's such a long wait!
