Strangely, it surprises me that I am such a devoted fan of Arashi. I hardly listen to Jpop (truthfully, lol, I sometimes find it...not to my taste).

Though I'm totally in love with our fab-five (esp nino!) the band that got me into Jpop/drama was actually WaT with Eiji Wentz and Koike Teppei....I was wondering if anyone else liked them too? Which band was your first love?

WaT (Wentz and Teppei) is a Japanese pop duo, composed of singers/songwriters Eiji Wentz and Teppei Koike. They met each other in 2002 and formed WaT, playing street lives with their guitars. Their debut single Boku no Kimochi came out in 2005. Wentz, who is half German-American and half Japanese, is also known as an entertainer and comedian. Koike is also known as an actor and can play the harmonica.

OMG!!! WaT!!! I still love them I was watching the PV for Ready, GO! earlier. For me Hikaru Utada and Tsukiko Amano were the first Japanese singers I ever listened to and that was because of Kingdom Hearst and Fatal Frame. Well unless you count Anime opening songs but I had a tendency to skip them because I was eager to watch the episodes. So I'd say mainly of the two Tsukiko Amano because her songs were actually in Japanese in the games lol.... and of course Arashi followed very very soon after.

I love Arashi and I consider them my first Jpop band but actually, I loved Orange Range first 'cause, well, I heard them first XD

I don't really remember how I found out about them but my favorite performance, 'til now, is 5 Senchi during the Best Artist 2006. Koike's harmonica attached to his head was just :SLDFJ :heart:

Oh, I love WaT! They are too adorable. I got into them after thinking Teppei was such cuteness in Lovely Complex.

I first got into any sort of J-music, like, eight years ago, because of Gackt. Although I don't remember how I first even heard of him. So I listened to a lot of him and a lot of Malice Mizer, but I fell crazy in love with GLAY. And then I listened to things here and there over the years - some Utada Hikaru and such - until I decided last year sometime that it had been a while since I'd really checked out what was going on in J-rock. And I sort of checked that out, but somehow I ended up getting more into jdramas and Arashi and was sucked into J-pop. And really, Arashi is the first J-pop group that I've been really fannishly crazy about.

I do listen to a ton of WaT though. Second only to Arashi!

I looove WaT! I actually discovered them a few months after I found Arashi, because I'd wondered who that guy in Lovely Complex was. (I was surprised to find that I'd seen him in Gokusen 2 as well and just hadn't realized it!) Teppei Koike is so adorable! I love that he and Wentz formed the group on their own and started out as indie.

I totally agree! I still like Teppei more...I wonder if indie bands in Japan are big. I totally can't imagine like, most americans "jamming" to Arashi...lol

Indie V-kei and J-rock bands are quite big in Japan, especially bands like ReS and Ayabie which I totally adore.

I do enjoy some WaT music though I'm really more of an Arashi fan, despite liking less or no J-pop at all (more J-rock here) - but my sister's a huge fan of Teppei Koike so I just...got influenced somehow (and her, to more Arashi songs).

Eiji was in Gokusen 1 and Teppei in Gokusen 2.

I just watched Lovely Complex last night and watching Teppei in it definitely is encouraging me to give WaT a listen! Oh, and it helps that I think that Eiji has lovely eyes. Any song recommendations? While I do hope that I'll become a WaT fan, I hope I can still call Arashi my number one! And is there a place online where the fandom is really active? Cuz I noticed that the comms on livejournal haven't had recent posts in the past few weeks or so.

WaT is interesting actually, I like them too. I liked them when they released their 1st album. That one was great. Now they splited into their onw songs, so I like them less. Koike Teppei is very funny, I think as I watch some of his dramas like Oniyome Nikki, Water Boy, Dragon Sakura, etc.

i'm a fan of WaT, but generally of koike teppei. i have his solo album, pieces, and it's a great cd. it's so cute to hear him sing haha because he's just like a little girl. but it's definitely much better hearing WaT together, becuase their voices mesh surprisingly well together. eiji's is so manly and teppei's is so cute haha. i've been waiting for their next single (one where they sing together) for a long time now... sigh. anyone have any news on what WaT's doing lately? really miss them. i'm pretty sure though that teppei's busy, with his new drama coming out soon..

I fell in love with WaT the first time I ever saw a picture of them XD. Last year my number one dream was to marry Koike Teppei XD Though I find Eiji kind of ugly... but Teppei is so adorable he looks kind of like a kid... >_< esspecially in Waterboys 2(?), and Lovely Complex.
