Q1. Compared to 10 years ago, you have become more experienced, what do you think is your love selling point?
Maybe it’s that I don’t get jealous. When I was in my teens, I had a very strong sense of jealousy, but now I hardly get that anymore. Does it mean I have become more magnanimous?

Q2. Today is confession day! On that day, what would be your game plan?
I don’t really have a plan, but I think it would happen on the way home. When you have a really strong feeling, I think it will just naturally come up in the conversation.

Q3. Among the members, who shares the same taste in women as you do?
Around the time of our debut, we would all be looking at magazines and go, “This girl is cute!” At that time, Sho & I shared a similar preference. So I guess even until now that is still true?

Q4. When it comes to a romantic relationship, are you an S or an M? When do you feel that way?
I’m quite bad at matching my pace with my partner’s, I’m the type who will become tired if I can't go with my own pace, so I guess I’m an S. When I try to follow someone, I usually lag behind.

Q5. When you are dating someone, do you mail her everyday? Do you cook for her?
For mail, that’s definitely everyday, right! As for cooking, I can’t cook anything fancy.. so I will work hard on making her something like fried rice or a nabe!

Nope. I will show her my self when I’m by myself, or my self when I’m with the other members!

Because we have the same taste in women, it’s probably Sho-kun. Although I've never really talked to him about “relationship problems” before, he has listened to me talk about “this is the state I am in right now”

No. In the first place, I don’t really understand what being popular means… When I’m walking around town, I have a feeling someone might recognize me, though.

She should have similar interest and the same pace as me, a person who is easy to be with. Having those two should be enough. I didn’t mention she has to be good in cooking… Well, it’s better if we cooked together, right?

Helping each other. I would like us to be doing many things together. I would be happy if we could enjoy our hobbies together, and I would like us to help each other deal with household chores.

Sho-kun is a person who is full of “effort”. Being someone who sees it up close, I can’t help but to feel admiration. In order to change the setting from the usual, I will propose to go somewhere further. How about strolling around Yokohama or at Hakone? I will save the confession until the very last moment!

Kaga Mariko-san (actress)
Profile: Born in 1943. First acted with Matsumoto in the 1998 drama, “Hitsuyou no Nai Hito”. She acted as Matsumoto’s mother in the Hana Yori Dango series as Doumyouji’s cold-hearted mother, Kaede.

He has a very personable charm in abundance; I look forward to what he will be in ten years’ time.

When I first acted with Jun-kun, he was around 14 at the time. 7 years from then, when I met him again at the set of Hana Yori Dango, I was surprised to see him grow into a remarkable professional. I immediately loved his Doumyouji, but because of the role I played, I had to act cold towards him, so it was hard (laughter). Jun-kun’s true face is … in between shoots, he would converse with me although we are from a different generation and he would ask me things like “Aren’t you cold?” and lend me his cardigan … he is a very down-to-earth person. What life he will lead and what precious moments he will have; I wonder what 35-year-old he will become in 10 years’ time. I really look forward to that.


To Ninomiya Kazunari

Takahashi Katsumi-san (actor)
Profile: Born in 1961. After acting together with Ninomiya in the drama “Abunai Hokago”, he has acted with him many times since.

Nino’s charm is making things look easy without showing the hard work he has put behind them.

From the very beginning, Nino has always been very frank (laughter). But, even until now, he has never made me feel uncomfortable. He is strangely broad-minded, able to interact with me without paying attention to the age difference. Lately, he is very busy with work, so when we meet, all he does is show me his magic tricks (laughter). Subtly, without anyone noticing it, I think he must put in a lot of effort into his work as well as his magic. But he doesn’t let people see that. Instead, he makes light of it. Whether it’s work, magic, friends … it is only someone who is very capable who can do well in all of them. That is his charm, and I admire him for that. Shimura Ken-san (talent)
Profile: Born in 1950. A comedian who represents the average Japanese. Has appeared together in Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen with Aiba since 2004. It seems like Shimura-san was there when Aiba first tried golf.

Because he is such an earnest guy, even a guy will think “he's so cute”

Aiba-kun always does his best in everything. At the show, I gave him the advice “Don’t follow the script, but contribute your own opinion and suggestion!” and since then he has really been following that. When we go out to eat together, there were times that he would be listening and taking notes of what I said. Although he could do many impressive things in concerts and performances, he is earnest and unassuming. I think even a guy who sees him like that would genuinely say, “What a cute guy”. He has good manners, no pretense, really an idol who acts “normal”; I don’t think there has been anyone like him until now. Kida Tsuyoshi-san (writer, director, actor)
Profile: Born in 1969. Wrote and acted in all 4 of Ohno-kun’s play series, the “Puu” series. In 2008, he released his first pictorial book.

A “dormant volcano” who hides an explosive ability behind his calm demeanor.

Normally he is a quiet person who doesn’t talk much. To the extent I would wonder about what he is really thinking. But, out of the blue, he sent me a mail to say “Your pictorial book was great!” He is a person who would awaken motherly instincts even in a guy like me (laughter). On the other hand, he is a talented person who meets your expectations all the time when you require it, be it concerts, exhibitions, or plays. Especially when it comes to acting out an explosive emotion, there is no one better than him. Although he is a bit reserved for an idol (laughter), he has a fire burning inside of him, like a “dormant volcano”. I look forward to what kind of Ohchan he will show us next. It would be great if we could make a pictorial book together!


To Sakurai Sho

VERBAL-san (musician)
Profile: Part of m-flo together with TAKU. Has known Sakurai-kun since he debuted.

ON or OFF, he is seriously a wise, good guy!

For me, Sakurai-kun is a good friend, almost like a younger brother. I feel proud looking at him slowly climbing up (laughter). When it comes to making music, he would seriously and professionally give me his advice when I show him the lyrics I wrote or the demo tape I made. Besides that, even when he is not working, I feel that he is always aware of his responsibilities as “Arashi’s Sakurai Sho”. That person is the one who, while he would be working so hard on something he wants to do even if it kills him, would be making so much noise in the living room getting all excited about something; he's a cunning, sneaky, cool guy! Nakashima Tomoko (comedienne)
Profile: Born in 1971. Member of the comedy duo, Othello. Appears in Himitsu no Arashi-chan with Arashi. First appeared together in 2004’s 24 Hour TV when Arashi was the main personality.

The gap between their comedic appeal and their s** appeal is wonderful.

For me, the moment when I especially feel Arashi’s awesomeness is during free talks in the show. Because every one of them has this spirit of wanting to entertain people, they continue to figure out how to make things interesting and liven things up, it makes me feel really safe working and laughing alongside them. On the other hand, when you see them sing and dance, they’re really s**y! I think to have that gap is wonderful. Even when the camera is not rolling, they will still follow up on each other’s words and be concerned about the staff, I feel they really put a lot of importance in human relationship. Profile: Born in 1971. Member of the comedy duo, Othello. Appears in Himitsu no Arashi-chan with Arashi. Also acted in 2003’s Yoiko no Mikata alongside Sakurai-kun.

A group that can score in every area

Everyone in Arashi is honest. Without trying hard, they easily give that feeling of being real people. If you analyze them from the point of view of someone from Kansai, Aiba-kun and Ohno-kun and unexpectedly Sakurai-kun as well are the “boke”, while Ninomiya-kun and Matsumoto-kun are the “tsukkomi”. I think that balance is wonderful. What left a lasting impression for me from the show is the Childminder segment. To see them fighting hard taking care of children, it makes them look dependable and it awakens my motherly instinct. I really honestly felt “these kids will really score in every area”.
