<b>Shall we begin, the hour of love?
"Meet" with us once again, Q&A talk about "Love"</b>
We've become so popular but it would surely be wonderful if we could start over with "love" again honestly as just another guy. In order to go up to the next new step, we quietly asked ARASHI about their tendencies in love that we're so interested in. Take a gentle feel at their delicate male instincts.
<i>**Translator's note: The article actually prints all the answers separately but I put the answers together so it's easier to read and understand some parts ^_^</i>
<b>Q) What type of girls do you like?</b>
Nino: I don't have a type. As long as she's a girl, it's fine. Jun: None. I've never even separated girls into types. What's good about someone differs with each person. Sho: Someone who laughs a lot. I like a cheerful person. Aiba: Someone who radiates a good energy (laughs). Ohno: I don't have anything like that. The girl I fall in love with is my type.
<b>Q) What movements done by a girl do you think is cute?</b>
Nino: I think it's just best when she's doing normal things. When a girl does something she thinks is cute, I'll think it's cute too. Even if she does it consciously, it's totally fine. It's cute that she's trying to show her cute side. Jun: None. There's no such thing as a movement anyone can do and be cute, is there? Such movements are part of personalities too, so there's no way everyone can do the same movements and look cute. Sho: When her nose is stuffed up and she sneezes and stops it. Aiba: I like it when she tries something to the best of her abilities. Ohno: (glances to Nino at his side) Doing magic and playing games. In other words, I love Kazu
<b>Q) What song can a girl sing at karaoke that will make you have more good feelings for her?</b>
Nino: I don't go to karaoke so there's no song that will make me have more good feelings or anything. (From the side, Aiba asks, "ARASHI. What about ARASHI songs? Either that or Nino's solo songs *laughs*). I'd pull back---That would totally draw me away! Of course that's no good!! Jun: aiko's "KABUTOMUSHI" (Rhinoceros Beetle). Probably because it's our generation. Sho: Bubblegum Brother's "WON'T BE LONG." The girl would sing, "orioriorio~" and then I'd continue singing after her. It'd be super fun ♪ Aiba: TRF or Hirose Koumi. When someone sings songs that were popular back when I was in middle or highschool, I'd get super excited. Level of good feelings doesn't really matter (laughs). Also, this is kind of old but with Ann Lewis' "Aa, mujou" (Aa, heartlessness), I'm confident I can get hyper with all my energy! Ohno: "Niji" and "Himitsu" (laughs) <i>(1)</i>
<i>(1) For those of you who don't know, those are both Nino's solo songs!! iyan~!</i>
<b>Q) Your first date. Set up where would you meet, where would you go, and what would you do!</b>
Nino: So then, we'd meet at Shibuya, go to an amusement park, then go back to Shibuya again and split! Jun: It depends on my partner but I'd want to go to an amusement park. Let's go as a group. Sho: I'd go with my car to pick her up at her house, watch "YATTERMAN" at the movie theater, go eat dinner, and have her talk about the good points of the movie, and I'd finish with a "YATTA--!"<i>(1)</i> Because it's a date for me decided by me (laughs). Aiba: Since it's gotten warmer, it feels good to go outside. If only there was no pollen! Let's take a walk. How about Yoyogi Park in daytime? Ohno: Go to XXX (Nino's hometown) and go fishing. I went fishing around that area about 7 years ago when we went to shoot the jacket cover for "HERE WE GO." I think I caught a sea bass there? I couldn't fish very well back then so it got away. So I want to back again and have my revenge!
<i>(1) "Yatta" in Japanese means something like "Yay!" or "I did it!"</i>
<b>Q) In what moment would you think, "Maybe she likes me...?"</b>
Nino: Whenever I meet people I always think, "They must like me." But so many people have gone by and I haven't been able to get a partner even once. Jun: Since people basically like me anyways (laughs), I don't really think about that. I think I would be surprisingly slow though. I don't believe in body touch or mail exchanges really. Plus if I end up thinking, "Maybe she does like me?" then I'd feel like I was being tricked, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sho: When we continue to mail each other non-stop. Aiba: At a point in time when I'm aware of that, I'd probably start to like her, too (laughs). Ohno: When I don't notice that she's gotten a haircut and she sulks (laughs). (*On this day, Nino came into the studio having just cut his hair. He wanted Ohno to notice but Ohno had no reaction...)
<b>Q) "That was a mistake!" Tell us an episode that went wrong. </b>
Nino: Does that mean that it's necessary for you to realize it's a mistake? For me, it's not necessary at all so I don't even bother thinking about it. Jun: There have been times when I get casual mails with no particular meanings asking "What are you up to?" and I would kind of think, "Huh?" (laughs) Even then, I'd be really discreet. No, since there may be cases like that so there's nothing I'd do that would be a mistake. Sho: But it might end up becoming a nuisance half-way. If she doesn't answer me, I'd feel bad so for the time being, I would honestly answer her. <i>(1)</i> Aiba: If you really want to know, I think it happens. I personally don't have any tactics for love but I get the feeling that I'd naturally be manipulated (laughs). Ohno: There may have been mistakes but I believe that it wasn't so!
<i>(1) I'm not sure what Sho means here, but I get the feeling that he's taking up after what Jun said about the mailing thing.</i>
<b>Q) "As a condition of whom I date, it's important that the following xxxx must be the same as me!" Fill in the blank and tell us why.</b>
Nino: I think there should be something, but I can't think of anything--- Jun: As long as she has intuition about high moral values. Sho: Our moral values don't have to be exactly the same, but it's better if we're close. It'd be nice if we could laugh and cry at the same things. Aiba: It's fine if our sense of values and money are different. As long as we can laugh together. It's not about having the same sense of humor but I think it's good if we can laugh a lot when we are together. Ohno: She must like tonkotsu ramen (1), must have the tendency to get absorbed in something, and should think that work is something that ends earlier than planned (Nino who is sitting next to him, grins upon hearing that). (2)
<i>(1) Tonkotsu ramen is pork bone ramen.
(2) I think in this case Ohno means that he likes people who get so absorbed in their work that they feel like the work day ended fast because they were having so much fun.</i>
<b>Q) What words do you use when you confess, and what methods?</b>
Nino: I think it's better to be direct. For example, something like "Let's date"!? Jun: Case by case. Mails are bad though. I'm a direct kind of person. Sho: Ideally, I guess, would be meeting her and directly saying "I like you." I think if I get too old and end up saying something kind of incomprehensible like "I'll click once into your heart" then the same thing might happen as it did on ARASHI no Shukudai-kun. Even if there aren't any cameras rolling, I might still bomb it. Aiba: I haven't done that in a while. Like, I really want to have butterflies in my stomach. Maybe mail will be able to properly sum up everything I want to say and convey it to her? But I think it's no good unless there's that live feeling, so I'd meet her and say it. But just having only the two of us meet is already suspicious. Ohno: "I love you so much!" You have to put the "so" in there with love, don't you!? Isn't that kind of interesting?
<b>Q) Would you be happy with a direct approach from girls? Or would you draw back?</b>
Nino: Even if it's from a girl I'm not interested in, I'd be happy. Jun: I wouldn't draw back or anything. But essentially, if she doesn't win my heart, I won't accept it. Sho: It's important about how I feel but I'd be happy. Aiba: I think it's fine. Ohno: I'd be happy if a girl I didn't really have interest in confesses to me.
<b>Q) If you were to date yourself, what kind of special services would you do?</b>
Nino: Since I only show magic tricks that I've mastered, I wouldn't show that. ...Unfortunately, there won't be any special services. If I dated myself, the amount of time where I would separate and be alone would probably increase. That can't be helped though. Jun: Girls who are in love become very cute so from my own eyes, wouldn't I become really cute? But I don't think there's anything to gain from dating me though. You don't date to gain something, right? When I don't do anything and I ask, "Is that okay?" I'd rather date someone who would say it's OK (laughs). Sho: When we go traveling, I'd take videos. The problem though is that she'd be the only one in the video. So it'd turn into something like a promotion video (laughs). Aiba: Nothing (laughs). I might think that because "I love that person, I want to do something for them!" though. We date each other because we have fun when we're together, right? I don't want anything more than that so I wouldn't be too conscious of anything! Ohno: Fishing. And then, I'd bring along the fish I caught that day as a present.
<b>Q) What can the girl you're dating do for you to make you happy?</b>
Nino: Nothing really. Jun: Nothing in particular but if she were to do something for me, I'd be happier with something having to do with the household. Cooking, doing laundry, and housekeeping would be nice. If she says "No way" then that's fine, too though (laughs). Sho: I'd be happy if she cooked for me. The best thing would be if her miso soup tasted good. My favorite ingredients are Chinese cabbage or cabbage. Aiba: Cooking. I think my family's miso soup tastes the best, so I'd be happy with something that tastes close to that. I like onion miso soup. Ohno: Not anything in particular. Maybe if she cooks meals for me. I'm fine with anything, it doesn't have to be a special menu. I'd probably be happy if something like the curry she makes tastes good.
<b>Q) An action that would make you pull back if she did it to you?</b>
Nino: Nothing in particular. For example, even if she looked at my cellphone without asking, I'd ask, "Why are you looking?" I won't pull back from anything we could resolve by talking. Jun: As long as it's not something that would destroy our mutual trust for one another, then it's fine. Sho: I don't like rude word usages such as "Crap, this. This is damn good!" I don't like rough word usages like that. But, that's me!! Aiba: Wouldn't that be cheating!? Ahaha. Ohno: Not anything in particular but I might pull back if she says too many selfish things.
<b>Q) If you date her, would you want to know everything about each other?</b>
Nino: It depends on my partner but if she says she wants to know, then that's fine, too. Jun: I think there are things better off knowing and better off not knowing. I think there are cases where it's better to have somethings you don't know. Plus because I don't know it, I'd want to know it. Sho: I don't want to know anything my partner doesn't want me to know. Aiba: Not really. She could just contact me when she wants to. It doesn't have to even be a minute by minute detailed report, but even a "Good night" mail might be important. That way you can avoid waking up the other person when they're just about to sleep by calling them on the phone. Ohno: We don't have to know everything, do we? I think it's fine if we don't mail or call everyday too.
<b>Q) What do you think of a girl who tries hard to match you in your hobbies?</b>
Nino: Isn't that nice? Jun: Wouldn't you be happy? Sho: I would be happy but I feel like she doesn't have to force herself like that. Aiba: I'd be happy. It'd be fun if our conversation about our shared interests increased. Ohno: Hm~mm, I don't think she has to force herself and try so hard like that?
<b>Q) Words she says that will make you happy?</b>
Nino: If they are words that a girl said for me, I would be happy with anything. Jun: ...I can't think of anything. Sho: If she remembers something casual that I had forgotten, I would be happy. Aiba: There's not any. It wouldn't be words. Ohno: "You're silly (laughs)" or something.
<b>Q) Words she says that will hurt you?</b>
Nino: There's nothing like that. I'm fine with anything, seriously. I know I'm the one saying this but I think my heart really is amazingly generous (laughs). Jun: That would be..., please leave me alone. Sho: "Why didn't you do that for me back then?" I would feel sorry to myself having not notice the existence of such a faulty point, or something like that. Aiba: You're the worst! Ohno: "You really are stupid!" <i>(1)</i>
<i>(1) Ohno uses the word "baka" in both this question and the previous one. The difference is the nuance in each answer. The previous question would be say in a sweet, caring sort of way while this particular one would be more admonishing.</i>
<b>Q) If you're dating, would you want to take the initiative?</b>
Nino: Either ways is fine. Jun: Either ways is fine. Sho: There were times that I thought that before but either ways is fine. I think it's ideal to not have either person be decided as such though. Aiba: Either ways is fine. I don't have a preference. Ohno: Either ways is fine. It depends on the situation.
<b>Q) A promise between your friend or your lover. Which do you give priority to?</b>
Nino: That, of course it's whichever one that came first. They would never call at the exact same time so I would give priority to the person who was even one second faster. If I suddenly became free and no one especially contacted me about anything, I would just do my own plans. Jun: I would basically go for who I made the promise with first. Sho: That's super hard but probably my lover. Strictly saying, I would give priority to whichever came first. If I suddenly had some free time, I would just do both. A session! Aiba: The one that came first. Otherwise, it's a balance. I might give priority to the one I hadn't seen recently. Ohno: Friends! Ah, but I'm not sure. It probably depends on the circumstance. If I feel like I've met my lover more often lately, I'd go meet my friends. And if I've spent a lot of time with my friends, I'd probably choose my lover.
<b>Q) Would you be more fired up in a love that has obstacles (long distance separation, people around you opposing)?</b>
Nino: It doesn't matter. Jun: I wouldn't change. Sho: Whether there are obstacles or not, I think I'd be the same. I don't think it's better to have obstacles. Aiba: I'd be fired up either ways. I can't say "this one!" Ohno: I'd be the same either ways. There are times when I would get fired up and there may be times when I'm worn out by such obstacles.
<b>Q) Do you fall in love at first sight?</b>
Nino: I do. I do everyday. Jun: I do not. Sho: [No answer] Aiba: [No answer] Ohno: I do!
<i>**Translator's note: For some reason, they didn't ask Sho and Aiba these questions. I don't really know why @_@ They asked the same questions to all the members at the same time, too, from what I gather but it's not printed no matter how much I scanned the pages in every detail to find the answers X_X</i>
<b>Q) Anything you would request of from your wedding partner?</b>
Nino: I think there would be something but I won't know until that time comes. Jun: Come be in the same coffin as me! Sho: I think it'd be nice if we could raise a fun family. Aiba: A tidy woman. Someone who cleans very diligently. Ohno: Umm...marriage, huh? I might not do that (laughs).
<b>Q) Your situation for a proposal?</b>
Nino: I think anywhere would be fine? Jun: I can't think of anything. Personally though, I'd like to say it casually. It might depend on my partner though. Sho: I don't have an image of a place with a beautiful night view or anything but, just, I would like to do it formally. The distant future seems like such a wonder. Aiba: Casually would be nice, too. But on the contrary, I would like to do it ceremoniously. Dressing up fancily and going somewhere is nice, too. Being at home in pajamas is nice, too. Ohno: If there comes a partner that I want to marry then probably I'd propose at my own house. I don't think of anything special.
<b>Q) Your ideal family image?</b>
Nino: If I got married and had kids, I would play with them but I'm not interested in marriage. Jun: I'd like a family with an "at-home" feel. I think i'd be nice to live somewhere close to the ocean or mountains. Sho: I want to play catchball with my kids. Though I'm not really good at it. Aiba: I'd like to have a dog. I can't imagine a lifestyle without a dog. Or, a monkey would be nice, too. There's this clever monkey called a capuchin monkey that I want to try keeping. Ohno: I want to try a self-sufficient lifestyle where we can laze around in the countryside. I don't really like the city.

Thank you for the lovely translations. I can so sense the Ohmiya love during the first few questions. This interview really allows us fans to view Arashi as 'normal' people huh.
