Hiya Aibakalanders,
It's been a while since we made a huge announcement post, right. It's long but I hope you read it well. No new rules have been added, no worries.
1. Admins on hiatus
We currently have four admins - mondainai, nightowl and yuubi besides me. What we do besides generally looking over the forums & moderating our own sections is activating account manually, giving permissions to video sections, deleting accounts, hunting down streaming media uploaders and stuff like that. At the moment mondainai is more or less on hiatus 'cause of his hectic work (I truly hope it ain't killing him). nightowl is around more or less, but she too is kinda busy with her real life. I'm starting my final year in college and on Sep 1 I will temporarily move to do my job training for around four months. That means during my job training I have no Internet access or time like before.
This all means only yuubi will be active and the rest of us hiatus/semi-hiatus. We hope you don't PM yuubi unnecessarily. If you have just something general to ask, leave a message to Secretary's Desk (simply create a new topic if suitable thread doesn't already exist). If you wish to share mirrors for STORMY team sub files, PM the links to jeffer. But note that you need to contact her first unless you belong to STORMY uploaders (twistedhalo04, Silgari, Jikaku, SoSo Chan, Dyani). For updating the index posts in Fanfiction sections, contact mclam01. And for that always include a link to your thread - do not just PM the title of your fanfic.
2. Signatures disabled
We warned about banner sizes. Actually we warned about them few times. But since many members kept on breaking the rule signatures are now disabled. The bad thing is that announcements (such as staff member's hiatus message) cannot be seen. We will try to remember to add hiatus message to either our avatars or location so check them before PMing.
3. What happened to contests?
Perhaps you are wondering what happened to video contest? Or who won the YesAsia prize?
I didn't forget and I'm not trying to forget. My life has been hectic and not so nice for few months already. I honestly haven't had any interest, motivation, time - whichever you wanna pick. If I remember right only
two members took part in fanvid contest so instead of voting I think it's better to give prizes for both of them. I try my best to get this one done in September. Sorry for the delay.
<s>4. Lack of mods
We've lost some moderators. It's pretty typical after summer. We are getting older so we have less free time (the connection? lol) and I think most of us either study or work - or do both. To keep Aibakaland alive we need new mods. 2-3 would be nice.
What we expect from mods, new and old, is loyalty. You don't need to be here 24/7, and not every day. If you're able to check your section & staff sections properly like 2-3 times a week that's enough.
A mod however does need to do the moderating tasks he is supposed to do. This is a hobby so I don't want anyone to take it too serious. But I truly don't like people who become mods and then they suddenly disappear without a word. Or they are supposed to be around but the section(s) looks messy. Real life always comes first, and if a mod needs to take a break and go on hiatus - fine. But if the hiatus lasts weeks and weeks, maybe moderating is not the best thing to do.
Yabai-Yabai-Yabai section has quite a lot new posts and threads all the time so two mods might be good for it. News section needs a mod that is able to translate Japanese (articles). If you were around when petto
was taking care of the section you probably notices how she posted news early and from reliable sources. Someone's blog is not reliable source, and we don't need rumours.

5. And since fansubbers don't grow on trees..
STORMY team sub is in need of Japanese-English translators and spot translators!!
Interested applicants must:
- be not just Arashi fans, but HUGE Arashi fans. We want you to love and enjoy what you are doing!
- be proficient enough in the Japanese language.
- have decent English skills.
- be a team player. A certain level of commitment will be asked of you when you work on certain projects.
What we sub is mainly up to our translators - what they want to translate. If you are interested in helping us drop us a note to our e-mail

with subject 'STORMY team sub / translator'. Before becoming a translator for our fansub group a translation test needs to be passed. The test is a random variety show cut of 2-5 minutes.
